News - Announcement to Recipients of Pensions from Abroad due to Nazi Persecution, on Entitlement to Long-Term Care Benefits

Under a new amendment to the National Insurance Law, the monthly pension paid by a foreign country due to Nazi persecution will not be taken into account as income for purposes of determining entitlement to the long-term care benefit, nor for purposes of calculation of the rate of this benefit.

If you presently receive a reduced long-term care benefit due to the monthly pension that you receive from abroad in connection with Nazi persecution, the National Insurance Institute will re-calculate the rate of the long-term care benefit due you in accordance with the new amendment. You will receive an announcement regarding the new rate of benefit.

If your claim for a long-term care benefit was denied due to income, and you receive a monthly pension from abroad in connection with Nazi persecution, you may now be entitled to the long-term care benefit – on condition that you are dependent on the help of others for the performance of everyday tasks (getting dressed, eating, control of urine and bowel movements, washing and mobility in the home) or are in need of supervision.

In order for the NII to re-evaluate your entitlement to benefit, please submit the claim form again, together with updated authorizations on the types and amounts of your income – by mail or by fax – to your local NII branch.
