Under an amendment to the Families of Soldiers Killed in Action Law, as of March 2010 the National Insurance Institute will continue to pay a monthly benefit as well as special benefits to widows and widowers of hostile action victims, even after they remarry.
Furthermore, as of March 1, 2010, the National Insurance Institute renews payments to all widows and widowers of hostile action victims whose benefits had ceased being paid due to their remarriage.
Until now, payment of the monthly benefit and special benefits to widows and widowers had ceased upon their remarriage, when they received a lump-sum grant.
To the attention of widows and widowers who remarried:
If you receive a hostile action benefit for your children – As of March 1, 2010, the NII automatically renews the monthly benefit and special benefits that you stopped receiving after you remarried. Only if you wish to change your bank account or address information, you should contact the local NII branch closest to your place of residence.
If you do not receive a hostile action benefit for your children – In order to check your entitlement to a monthly benefit and special benefits, please contact the local NII branch closest to your place of residence, and fill out a form requesting payment of benefit to a widow who remarries.
The form may be downloaded from the site.
If you do not fill out the form and send it with the required documents, we will not be able to renew the payment to you.
