| The amended law for the working disabled - Continuing to receive the disability pension |
Under the amendment to the law, if you are receiving a disability pension and you are also working, the total amount that you will receive from your pension and your job will always be higher than the amount of the pension. Therefore, it is worth your while to go to work, thereby increasing your income.
Go to work and continue to receive your disability pension
The amended law takes a new approach to everything connected with payment of the disability pension for those who begin to work. If, in the past, you were liable to lose your entitlement to all or part of your pension due to just a few shekels in additional income, from now on the pension will be reduced gradually but the overall amount from your pension and your employment will always be higher than the amount of the pension alone.
If you go to work, your other rights will not diminish
As long as you are entitled to a disability pension, going to work will not diminish the following benefits:
1. Increment for a spouse and children (dependents’ increment) - This increment is given to the recipient of a disability pension for two children and a spouse (if the spouse's income is lower than NIS 4,913 (as of 01.01.2012) ). A full dependents' increment for a spouse is NIS 1,133 (as of 01.01.2012) , and up to NIS 907 (as of 01.01.2012) for each child. 2. Additional monthly pension - This is given to disability pension recipients with a 75% or higher degree of incapacity and a medical disability of 50% or more. The additional pension ranges between NIS 244 (as of 01.01.2012) and NIS 360 (as of 01.01.2012) a month. 3. Fringe benefits - Recipients of disability pensions are entitled to a range of fringe benefits in many areas. Among other things, they may be entitled to a discount on municipal taxes, a discount on public transportation and assistance with rent, in accordance with the rules established by the organizations that provide the benefits.
