Reimbursement of expenses for the purchase and installation of accessories in a private vehicle

The National Insurance Institute may reimburse a person with limited mobility for the expenses incurred in the purchase and installation of accessories in a private vehicle.

Conditions of entitlement

A person with limited mobility is entitled to reimbursement of the expenses involved in the purchase of accessories that were installed in his private vehicle, if he meets the following conditions:

1.   He is receiving a mobility allowance. 
2.   He possesses a valid driver’s license.
3.   The Medical Institute for Road Safety determined that he requires accessories for the purpose of driving, road safety and using the vehicle, and it determined which accessories he requires.
4.   The appropriate vehicle for him is not a vehicle for special accessories for the purpose of a special loan for the purchase and installation of accessories in a vehicle for special accessories.
5.   Within six months from the date of installation he provided an invoice and original receipts that itemize the accessories that were installed in the vehicle.
6.   He is not entitled under any law or other arrangement to receive accessories for a private vehicle or a grant to purchase and install them, and if he is entitled, he chose to obtain them in the framework of the Mobility Agreement.
7.   In the case of replacement: 12 months have elapsed from the date on which he last received such assistance.

Rates of payment

95% of the comprehensive amount of the cost of the accessories and their installation in the vehicle according to the National Insurance Institute pricelist, accessories for a private vehicle or according to their actual cost - whichever is the lower.

Payment

After installation of the accessories in the vehicle, the person with limited mobility must provide the Mobility Department at the branch with an invoice and original receipts itemizing the accessories installed in the vehicle, within six months from the date of installation. The invoice and receipts can be sent by mail.
