Conditions of entitlement - 3. You have completed a qualifying (insurance) period

A man: 

One of the following periods in which you were covered for old-age insurance will be considered as a qualifying period for purposes of entitlement to old-age pension:

60 insurance months within the 10 years that preceded the age entitling you to an old-age pension,
144 insurance months,
At least 60 insurance months, provided that the number of months that you were insured, from the date you became a resident of Israel for the first time, exceeds the number of months that you were not insured.

If you are a returning resident, and have not completed the qualifying period as above, you may be eligible for a special old-age benefit until you accumulate a qualifying period.

A married woman (married to an insured person) and a widow who receives a pension (survivors' pension or dependents pension in Work Injury):

In order to receive an old-age pension from the retirement age onward, you must be covered for old-age insurance and accumulate the insurance periods stipulated here.

You must accumulate one of the insurance (qualifying) periods listed below:

60 insurance months within the 10 years that preceded the age entitling you to an old-age pension,
144 insurance months,
At least 60 insurance months, provided that the number of months that you were insured, from the date you became a resident of Israel for the first time, exceeds the number of months that you were not insured.

If you did not accumulate one of the qualifying periods listed above, you may be entitled to an old-age pension at the age of entitlement to old-age pension, provided that you accumulated 60 insurance months out of the last 10 years preceding the age of entitlement to old-age pension, or 144 insurance months – all while a resident of Israel.  

Women exempt from the qualifying period 

If you did not accumulate a qualifying period as stipulated above, and your marital situation is one of the following, you may be entitled to an old-age pension at retirement age and onwards: divorced, widow not receiving a survivors' pension or dependents' pension, aguna, married whose husband is not covered in old-age insurance, woman who received a general disability pension in the month preceding the month for which she is eligible for an old-age pension.

An unmarried (single) woman is exempt from the qualifying period if she first immigrated to Israel after the age of 55-59, in accordance with her date of birth, as shown in the following table:

An unmarried (single) woman born in Israel or who first immigrated to Israel before the age exempting her from a qualifying period, according to the table – the qualifying period entitling her to an old-age pension is according to the rules listed above for a "man".
