Recipients of a survivors’ pension, widows and widowers of retirement age, may be entitled to a discount of up to 25% on municipal taxes, for up to 100 sq. meters of the area of their apartment.
Recipients of a survivors’ pension with an income supplement, widows and widowers, may be entitled to a discount of up to 100% on municipal taxes, for up to 100 sq. meters of the area of their apartment.
Widows and widowers of retirement age with low incomes may receive a discount (of up to 30%) according to the means test. They must provide the local authority with certification of income and submit an application for the discount. (The list of pension recipients is transferred by the National Insurance Institute directly to the local authorities, so there is no need to contact the NII.)
Ministry of Transport
Recipients of a survivors’ pension with an income supplement are also entitled to a discount on public transportation. The discount is up to 33% of the ticket price, and only for the purchase of monthly fare tickets. There are transportation lines on which no discount is given.
From retirement age, all citizens are entitled to a 50% discount on all types of existing tickets, upon presentation of their ID card.
The discount certificate is issued automatically once every two years, so there is no need to contact the Ministry of Transport. A person who does not receive the certificate can write to the Public Transportation Division, 8 Hamelacha Street, POB 57109, Tel Aviv 61570.

Ministry of Construction and Housing
Recipients of a survivors’ pension with an income supplement may be entitled to assistance with rent (in public or private housing) or in purchasing an apartment from one of the public companies (Halamish, Amidar, Amigar, Prazot, Shikmona and Heled).
The application for assistance should be submitted to the companies that won the tender for providing such assistance: Matan Chen, Amigar, and Amidar.
Israel Broadcasting Authority
Recipients of a survivors’ pension with an income supplement are entitled to a 50% discount on the IBA fee. The discount is given automatically according to a list submitted by the National Insurance Institute.
The health funds
Recipients of a survivors’ pension with an income supplement who are of retirement age are entitled to a 50% discount on the purchase of medications, and a full exemption from fees for medical services, such as payment to specialists, undertakings for tests, etc.

Israel Electric Corporation
Recipients of a survivors’ pension with an income supplement who are of retirement age are entitled to a 50% discount for up to 400 kWh, on electricity used in the apartment that serves as their residence.
Bezek
Recipients of a survivors’ pension with an income supplement are entitled to a discount from Bezek on the telephone line registered in their names, which is located in the apartment that serves as their residence.
