Work disability benefits - Rate of the work disability pension and the work disability grant, and place of payment

The work disability pension is paid on the 28th of the month (for that month), into the bank account of the person entitled to the benefit. For that purpose, the recipient must specify on the claim form the name and address of his bank and his account number, and attach a canceled check or certification from the bank regarding the account holder’s details.

A members of a kibbutz or cooperative moshav may have the pension paid into the account of the kibbutz or the cooperative moshav.

The work disability grant and all other one-time payments are deposited into the account of the person entitled to receive them, as specified on the claim form for the benefit.

The amount of the grant is equal to the monthly pension multiplied by 43. After receiving the grant, if the condition of the entitled person worsens and a disability of 20% or more is established for him, he will receive a monthly pension and the surplus amount of the grant will be deducted from the pension.

A worked disabled person with a 100% disability receives a monthly pension equivalent to the amount of the injury allowance due to him per day, multiplied by 30 (the maximum work disability pension per month is NIS 31,781 (as of 01.01.2012) for insureds who are salaried employees or self-employed). The disability pension changes each year on January 1st, in accordance with changes in the Consumer Price Index.

A work injury that occurred before April 1, 2006 and a claim for an occupational disease that was submitted before April 1, 2006:

A work disabled person with a temporary disability of 5%-100% receives a monthly pension.
A work disabled person with a permanent disability of over 5% and less than 20% receives a one-time grant.
A work disabled person with a permanent disability of 20%-100% receives a monthly pension.
A work disabled person with a permanent disability of less than 5% is not entitled to a benefit.

A work injury that occurred on or after April 1, 2006 and a claim for recognition of an occupational disease that was submitted on or after April 1, 2006:

A work disabled person with a temporary disability of 9%-100% receives a monthly pension.
A work disabled person with a permanent disability of over 9% and less than 20% receives a one-time grant.
A work disabled person with a permanent disability of 20%-100% receives a monthly pension.
A work disabled person with a permanent disability of less than 9% is not entitled to a benefit.

A work disabled person whose degree of disability entitles him to a monthly pension receives a pension at the rate of the percentage of his degree of disability, out of the amount of the pension that he would have received if the degree of his disability was 100%. For example, a person with a 50% disability receives a pension of half the pension he would have received if the degree of his disability was 100%.

Increased grant

An insured (except for a kibbutz member) who is injured at work before the age of 21, and who is entitled to a one-time disability grant from his job, is paid an increased grant, as though his monthly income was the amount of the average wage of NIS 8,619 (as of 01.01.2012) .

The income (from work or from any other source) of the recipient of the work disability benefit does not affect the rate of the benefit due to him.
