Is person employed by his own company entitled to unemployment benefit if forced to close the business due to the situation?

  • In case of a closed company (a company with up to 5 shareholders) and if he is considered as controlling shareholder in the company (holding at least 10% of the shares) – there will be no eligibility for unemployment benefit.
  • In case of a company with 6 or more shareholders – a claim for unemployment benefits must be submitted. We will check whether there were employee-employer relationships and, accordingly, rule on your eligibility for unemployment benefit.
