What happens when the child approaches the age of 18?

Before the age of 18, we will proactively send you an claim for general disability allowance and/or attendance to verify the child's eligibility for these benefits.

The claim must be accompanied by up-to-date medical documentation corresponding to the child's current age, so that we can make a quick decision and maintain continuity of entitlement to the allowance.

After the age of 18, the child will receive the following allowance:

  • If the disabled child allowance is higher, it will be paid until the age of 18 years and 90 days, after which a general disability pension and/or attendance allowance will be paid.
  • If the disability pension and/or attendance allowance is higher, it will be paid from the age of 18 years and 31 days.
