I am a doctorate student receiving a monthly grant from the University. May this grant be considered income from work for purposes of eligibility for maternity allowance?

Maternity allowance is benefit intended as a wage replacement during maternity leave. If the grant is held as an income from which insurance contributions and income tax are deducted, it will be considered a wage entitling to maternity allowance.  If the grant is not held as a wage, you will not be entitled to maternity allowance on its account.
