Decrease in unemployment benefits

In view of the decline in unemployment rate in the month of April 2021 below 10%, unemployment benefits will be decreased by 10% as of 26.5.21, as follows:

  • Those eligible for unemployment days based on a 12-month qualifying period, and have not yet used up the amount of unemployment days to which they are entitled - will continue to receive unemployment benefits at the full rate.
  • Those receiving unemployment benefits in the framework of the extension of unemployment days eligibility due to Covid-19 - will receive unemployment benefits at full rate until 25.5.21, and from 26.5.21 unemployment benefits will decrease by 10%.
For instance: the individual who receive unemployment benefits amounting to NIS 100 per day - will receive NIS 100 per day until 25.5.21, and NIS 90 per day as of 26.5.21.

For your information,

By law, if the unemployment rate drops below 7.5%, the payment of unemployment benefits will end 30 days after the release of the unemployment rate, for those receiving unemployment benefits in the framework of the extension of unemployment days eligibility due to Covid-19.

Currently, the unemployment rate is not below 7.5% and unemployment benefits are therefore paid as usual.
