Since the beginning of the war 237,585 people claimed unemployment benefits


From the month of January, when reliefs in unpaid leave ended and by the end of March, the entitlement of approximately 90 thousand persons eligible for unemployment benefits will end

The discussions regarding the extension of reliefs for people on unpaid leave coming from evacuated areas are expected to take place in the Knesset in the coming days.

  • From the beginning of October until today, 239,180 unemployment benefit claimants reached the National Insurance. 150,652 of them went on involuntary unpaid leave.
  • From the beginning of the war on 7/10 – 237,585 people claimed unemployment benefits from the National Insurance, among them 150,604 went on unpaid leave involuntarily.
  • Since the beginning of February – 11,464 citizens have claimed unemployment benefits, among them 3,689 went on unpaid leave involuntarily.

Among all claimants of unemployment benefits from the National Insurance:

61%  are aged 20-40

38% are aged 41-67

Of all claims: 45% are men, 55% are women.

As may be recalled, the legislation in favor of extending the relief to those eligible for unemployment benefits following the "Iron Swords" war ended at the end of December. However, it was recently decided to extend the reliefs for individuals entitled to unemployment benefits coming from evacuated areas in the north and south, but the actual extension agreement has not yet been signed.

According to National Insurance data:

  • From the end of December, 24,609 unemployed people see their eligibility end, of which 10,969 went on unpaid leave and 1,488 are evacuees.
  • In January – 25,614 unemployed people will see their eligibility end, of which 9,227 went on unpaid leave and 879 are evacuees.
  • In February – 23,854 will be eligible for unemployment benefits, of which 9,624 went on unpaid leave and 760 are evacuees.
  • In March – 23,718 unemployed people are due to end their days of entitlement, of which 9,683 are on unpaid leave and 678 are evacuees.
