| Vocational rehabilitation for work-injured persons |

|
Under the Work Injury Insurance Law, you are eligible for vocational rehabilitation if you meet the following criteria:
1. You have been assigned a permanent disability degree of at least 10%, unless:
- you have not been assigned a disability degree, but the National Insurance Institute physician thinks that you will retain at least 10% disability.
- the disability degree assigned to you is less than 10%, but the NII physician thinks that continuation of your present type of work might endanger your health or safety.
- the disability degree assigned to you is less than 10%, but you suffer from an occupational disease.
2. Because of your impairment, you cannot work in your previous occupation or in any other kind of work suitable to your skills, or you require vocational training in order to return to your previous occupation.
3. In the rehabilitation officer’s opinion, you are suitable for vocational rehabilitation and are capable of cooperating in the process of vocational rehabilitation and of integrating into the open job market as a regular worker.

| Consolidation of a vocational career | |
| The NII rehabilitation officer will help you select a training and employment plan after having talked with you and having determined your ambitions, skills and limitations. If necessary, the rehabilitation officer will consult with physicians, psychologists and other rehabilitation experts. In order to help you return to and integrate into the working world as soon as possible, the rehabilitation officer will help you choose a vocation that is in demand in the job market and which you can learn within a defined time period. |

| Place and Deadline for Submitting Claim for Vocational Rehabilitation | |
| You can submit a claim for vocational rehabilitation at the local NII branch nearest your place of residence. Just fill out the Claim for Vocational Rehabilitation form. You must submit the form within a year of your having been assigned a permanent work-related disability degree. |

| Financial benefits for work-injured persons | |
| In accordance with the conditions specified by law and existing regulations, you may choose to either receive an advance payment or to convert all or part of your disability pension into a lump-sum grant (capitalization of monthly pension). |

| Assistance in placement | |
| The NII’s Rehabilitation Division works in close cooperation with placement agencies specializing in the integration of disabled persons into the job market. The division provides assistance in the placement of work-injured persons in the open market and supports them until they have been integrated into their workplaces. |
