Definition / Conditions
An Israeli resident registered as a student at an academic institute in Israel, not including women married to insured persons who are residents of Israel. A soldier-student is considered as a student during the period of his studies.
Payment Obligations
A student must pay his or her own national and health insurance contributions.
How to Register and Pay
Registration as a student at the National Insurance Institute is automatic, after transfer of information from the academic institutes to the National Insurance Institute. If you have been charged with insurance contributions as a non-worker instead of as a student, it is likely that the information from the academic institute was not received. In this case, you must present your local National Insurance branch with a certificate stating that you are a student for the period for which you were charged as a non-worker, and you will be charged with lower insurance contributions.

Once the National Insurance Institute is informed that you are a student, the Institute will send you insurance contribution payment vouchers within 3 weeks. Insurance contributions must be paid quarterly, in one of the following ways:
