Unpaid leave compensation outline in the context of "Rising Lion" operation


If you stopped working during the fighting with Iran ("Rising Lion") and in its wake you have been put on unpaid leave, dismissed or unable to work for any other reason - don't worry!

Check your eligibility for unemployment benefits - or a grant for this period.

Conditions of entitlement 

  • A person forced to take unpaid leave for at least 10 days out of the 12 days of fighting (instead of 30 days).
  • Even if you worked for two days only during the unpaid leave - your right will not be adversely affected.
  • A period of work (qualification) was accumulated over 6 months of work out of 18 months (instead of 12 months out of 18).

Important to know!

  • Eligibility will also be given to those who have not used up their vacation days. 
  • Eligibility will be fully granted without deduction of the first 5 days.
  • For a person who is both independent and employed - eligibility will be given according to the wage paid as employee, and the deduction of income as an independent will be made according to the statement and approval of a CPA or a tax advisor.
  • Repeat unemployed people under 40 years old and who have no entitlement days left - will receive an additional payment for the period from June 13 to June 24, 2025.
  • If you have received a payment / wage from your employer during the unpaid leave - you are not entitled to unemployment benefits.

Evacuees from north and south during the "Iron Swords" war

If you are evacuees from the south or the north in the wake of the "Iron Swords" war -
as part of this outline, a supplement will be given to the balance of unemployment days for the unpaid leave period. This supplement will be of up to 12 days.

How to apply for eligibility?

  • Submit a claim for unemployment benefits on the National Insurance website
  • Register on the Employment Service website.
  • Make sure your employer reports the accurate dates of unpaid leave to the National Insurance (Form 100).

Grant to individuals aged 67+

The calculation of the grant will be carried out based on - 75% of the average salary from work income in 3 months out of the 6 months prior to the work stoppage, selecting the months with highest income - however, without exceeding a NIS 134 daily income ceiling.
