| Survivors - How and when to submit the claim |
The claim should be submitted on the form Claim for a Survivors’ Pension. The form contains a list of the documents that must be attached and may be sent to the National Insurance Institute by mail.
In order to receive the survivors' pension retroactively from the date of the insured's death, the claim for the pension should be submitted to the NII no later than 12 months after the date of death. If the claim is submitted after 12 months have elapsed from the date of death, those entitled to the pension will receive it for a retroactive period that does not exceed 12 months.
