Payment of maintenance allowance and additional payments
  Job placement assistance
Choosing a career

The rehabilitation officer helps you to choose a training track and occupation, after speaking with you and learning about your ambitions, qualifications and limitations. If necessary, he may consult with psychologists, doctors and other rehabilitation experts. To help you to return to work as soon as possible, the rehabilitation officer helps you to choose a profession that is demand in the job market and can be learned within a set period of time.

Vocational training and study track
The duration, nature and location of the training are determined by your qualifications and the type of profession that was chosen. The profession can be learned in a variety of learning and training institutions at the end of which a vocational certificate or academic degree is conferred.

Job placement assistance
At the end of your studies or vocational training, the rehabilitation officer can help you to find work on the open job market. The Rehabilitation Division collaborates with several job placement agencies that specialize in finding jobs for the disabled.

Submitting a claim for vocational rehabilitation

A claim for vocational rehabilitation should be submitted to the Rehabilitation Department at the National Insurance Institute branch near the place of residence, on the form Claim for Vocational Rehabilitation (Form BL/270).

Payment of maintenance allowance and additional payments

During the period of your vocational training, the National Insurance Institute will make the following payments to you (in addition to the survivors’ pension or the dependents’ pension):

  • Maintenance allowance
  •  Tuition fees, study equipment, study devices and tutoring
  •  Travel and accommodation expenses
  •  Support and accessibility services
  •  Advance rehabilitation payment

Job placement assistance

The Rehabilitation Division, in cooperation with job placement agencies, helps widows and widowers to find jobs on the open job market, providing them with support and assistance until they integrate into a new job.
