Staying abroad - Receiving an old-age pension in United States


Under the friendship convention between Israel and the United States (not a social security convention), a person who began receiving an old-age pension in Israel and left for the United States will continue to receive his pension while he is in the United States. 

He should write to the National Insurance Institute and request to receive his pension in the United States, providing both personal information ­ – home address in clear, and information of bank account

Providing a certificate of life to the National Insurance Institute
Person who stay in the United States and receive an old-age pension from the National Insurance Institute are required to provide a "Certificate of Life" to the Institute.

Changing residence
If you change your place of residence from the United States to a country with which Israel has no convention, your entitlement to the old-age pension will be re-examined according to the rules of described in this site.
