Change in the calculation of reserve service benefits for reservists called for another service within 90 days since their previous duty

Following an amendment to the law, a change will apply to the calculation of reserve benefits during the emergency period, for reservists called for additional service from 1.5.25 onwards, when less than 90 days have passed since their previous reserve service.

How is the benefit calculated according to the new method?

First stage – we compare the reservist's income in 2 periods:

  • Current period: the 3 months preceding the current service

    Compared to
  • A previous period that meets these conditions: 3 consecutive months of work without reserve days, preceding another period of service that he completed. If the reservist does not have such a period until the start of the war, we will compare it to the 3 months preceding the war (July to September 2023).

Second stage, we calculate the compensation as follows:

  • If the employee's income in the current period is 20% or above higher than his income in the previous period - the compensation will be automatically calculated according to his income in the previous period + a salary increase of up to 20%.

Important to know! If the increase in salary is only related to work without reserve benefits - the employer can claim from National Insurance the salary difference to which the employee is entitled, and attach pay slips to his claim.
    For example:
Noam was called up for new reserve service on 2.5.25 after a break of 70 days. His income in the 3 months preceding the service (current period) - NIS 15,000 per month, his income in the 3 consecutive months (excluding reserve days) preceding the reserve service he completed (previous period) - NIS 10,000 per month. His compensation will be calculated based on his income in the previous period: NIS 10,000 + NIS 2,000 (20% increase) – NIS 12,000.
If Noam's salary increase is due to work alone, his employer must submit a request to us for the difference of NIS 3,000.
  • If the reservist's income in the current period is lower than his income in the previous period - the compensation will be calculated based on his income in the previous period.
