Exemption from Employment Service registration in order to obtain income support

Same-sex couples who have a child up to the age of two will be able to choose which of them will be exempt from registering with the Employment Service Office, and file a request for exemption from vocational assessment.

Exemption from vocational assessment can also be granted due to the care of a sick family member (spouse or child), who lives in the same household.

Extension of unemployment benefits entitlement period for same-sex spouses

A recipient of unemployment benefit may be entitled to an extended period of unemployment depending on the number of dependents, when the definition of dependents also includes same-sex spouses and children.

National insurance contributions exemption in case of non-employment

A woman who does not work and whose spouse (registered with the Ministry of the Interior as married to her or recognized as a common law spouse) is insured with the National Insurance - will be entitled to an exemption from national and health insurance contributions.
