Is child allowance due to children who are staying abroad?

A child staying in Israel is solely entitled to child allowance. Those staying abroad for over 3 months – will not be entitled to child allowance as of the 1st of the month, in which his travel outside of the country reached 3 months. If the parents are overseas for a mission, sabbatical year, in advanced study or medical treatment, they have to provide the National Insurance Institute with authorizations regarding their stay abroad, in order to let us examine their right to the allowance.
