In the wake of the novel coronavirus crisis, a 500 NIS grant will be paid for children, older people and some benefit recipients, i.e. general disability, income support or maintenance.
The grant will be paid this month.
Grant beneficiaries
Children
A grant of 500 NIS was paid on April 12, 2020, for each child under 18 (who is eligible for child allowance in April). The grant is paid for 4 children in the family at most:
- One child – 500 NIS
- Two children – 1,000 NIS
- Three children – 1,500 NIS
- For children and above – 2,000 NIS
Please note, grant payment is deposited into the bank account used for payment of child allowance.
Importantly:
- The grant is paid on the bank account used for payment of child allowance.
- Persons with debt – the grant is paid to them in full, without deduction to reduce the debt.
- Children born until 15.4 (included) are eligible for a child allowance in April and are therefore entitled to the grant. They will soon receive payment of the grant, after being recorded into the system.
- Children turning 18 in April are eligible for the grant.
- In the Personal Service website, grant payment is still scheduled on April 13, but we managed to pay it earlier on Sunday, April 12.
Senior citizens
On Thursday, April 16, 2020, a grant was paid to a million senior citizens for a total amount of NIS 620 million.
Please note that the grant will be paid on 16.4 even to the person whose Personal Service website shows that payment is scheduled on 19.4.
Who is eligible and what is the amount of the grant?
A 500 NIS grant is paid to those who have reached retirement age (62 for women and 67 for women), and received, in March or April, at least one of the following benefits:
- Old-age pension
- Survivors' pension (above retirement age)
- Benefit for dependents of victims of work injury
A grant increment of 450 NIS is paid to the elderly who receive, in addition, at least one of the following benefits:
- Income supplement
- Long-term care
- Attendance
In other words, the above concerned citizens will receive a grant of 950 NIS.
Please note,
- Two spouses recipients of income supplement, long-term care benefit or attendance allowance are entitled to a 450 NIS increment. In these cases, the grant of 500 NIS is paid to each spouse on Thursday (16.4), while the date of payment of the supplement to one of the spouses has not yet been determined (due in April).
- Anyone who receives an old-age pension with increment for a spouse – will be entitled to a single grant amounting to 500 NIS (and not a double grant).
Disability pension recipients
On April 14, a grant of 500 NIS was paid to some 85,000 recipients of disability pension. About 160,000 additional eligible recipients will receive the grant on April 20, 2020.
Who is eligible for the grant?
A 500 NIS grant will be paid to those receiving, in March or April, at least one of the following benefits: general disability pension, attendance allowance for the severely disabled, mobility, disabled child, work disability, prisoners of Zion, compensations for polio victims, ringworm victims and for blood transfusion victims.
Please note, someone entitled to more than one disability pensions will receive only one grant.
How will I know when a payment is made?
On the Personal Service website, you can see in the system the date of payment of the grant.
Grant payment to the disabled of IDF and hostile actions
The National Insurance Institute has transferred a list of all grant beneficiaries to the Ministry of Defense: approximately 2,000 disabled due to hostile actions and 29,000 disabled of IDF.
Please note, the grant for the disabled of IDF and hostile actions is paid by the Ministry of Defense.
Income support benefit recipients
A grant of NIS 500 will be paid on April 20, 2020, to recipients of income support benefit for the month of March or April.
Please note that a couple beneficiary of income support benefit will receive a grant of NIS 1,000.
Maintenance (Alimony) benefit recipients
A grant of NIS 500 will be paid on April 20, 2020, to recipients of maintenance benefit for the month of March or April.
Instances of obtaining more than one grant
- Anyone receiving a benefit entitling to a – can receive a grant for himself and an additional grant for a child.
- A child for whom a disabled child allowance is paid – will receive two grants (one as a child and one as disabled child), provided that the parent who receives the disabled child allowance is not entitled to a grant for the child or is entitled to income support or maintenance benefits.
- A parent who receives a disabled child allowance as well as income support or maintenance benefits – will obtain a grant for himself and two grants for the child (one as a child and one as a disabled child).
- If one of the disabled child's parents receives is a disability pension recipient (and the other parent is not entitled to a grant for him) – the grant will be paid for himself and two grants for the child (one as a child and one as a disabled child).
