The National Insurance made public an agreement intended to recognize families of hostages as victims of terrorism


This recognition will enable the National Insurance and the Ministry of Defense to give a response to families of hostages.

We wish to inform you that an agreement has been finalized between the National Insurance and the Treasury, which has the force of law, for the recognition of families of hostages as victims of terrorism, and thereby allowing the to receive a package of economic and psychologic aid from the National Insurance (to citizens) and the Ministry of Defense (to security forces).

This agreement has been drafted, agreed upon and approved by the National Insurance, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Finance.

The agreement has been published on 18.10.23 and may be discussed before the Knesset's labor and welfare committee (as per government requirement) as soon as on next Sunday, 22.10.23.

The grief of families of hostages and missing people is unbearable and providing support in these times of uncertainty is our duty as government and society."
  • Yarona Shalom, Acting Director General of the National Insurance: "From the first moment, it was clear to us that we were dealing with an unprecedented disaster for the state of Israel and that it would be necessary to recognize the families of hostages as victims of terrorism and, in parallel, to make sure that these families received not only economic aid but a comprehensive package including mental health and more."
