The National Insurance Institute is considering retroactive unemployment benefits to trainee attorneys whose bar exams were postponed from 6/16 due to fighting with Iran
- In recent days, the National Insurance Institute has retrieved data on trainees who were supposed to take the bar exams on June 16, and due to the security situation, the exam was postponed.
- It was found that there are approximately 800 interns who did not receive unemployment benefits two months before the exam (i.e. from 16.4.25) because the law prohibits payment during this period.
- However, with the postponement of the exam and the security situation, the period of non-payment has been extended and has in practice affected the period of eligibility.
The National Insurance Institute has been examining the possibility of assisting trainee attorneys in recent days, and it has been decided that when the Bar Association sets a new date for the exam, the National Insurance will calculate the eligibility according to the new date, two months back (60 days) and will retroactively pay the gap in time. The payment will be made automatically and there will be no need to contact the National Insurance.
- As stated, the payment and execution by the National Insurance can be made once the new date for the exam is known.
- The National Insurance will send text messages to all eligible individuals to update them on their eligibility.
