The National Insurance will pay NIS 252 million in study grants


​At the beginning of the school year 5783 - the National Insurance will pay study grants on Thursday and Friday, 11.8.22 and 12.8.22.
The grant is intended to help families in preparing the upcoming school year, for instance with: purchasing books, brochures, school bags and so on.

Overall, the cost of grant payments reaches nearly NIS 252 million.

The National Insurance pays a grant to approximately 106,007 single-parent families, for 173,140 children, and to about 18,312 families with four children or above, receiving a subsistence benefit (income support, alimony, disability, old age, survivors) for 67,720 children.

The grant amounts to - NIS 1,046 for each child aged from 6 to 18, and is paid directly on the bank account of the parents for their children who were born between 1.1.2005 and 31.12.2016. Besides, children that weren't born in that time frame might also be eligible, provided they are learning in class 1 or 12. In such a case, in order to check eligibility - on must provide the National Insurance with school certificates.

As said, the grant is transferred automatically to the bank account of most eligible people. Those who didn't need to submit a one-time claim on the National Insurance website or at a branch, For instance: The parent who recently switched to a single-parent status, or a separated parent awaiting divorce. Furthermore - single parent (not married / widowed), aguna woman, woman in shelter for abused women and new immigrant, all of them may also be entitled to a grant.
