More than 25,000 children have been recognized as victims of hostile actions since October 7: The National Insurance Institute reveals the extent of harm to Israeli children
War data reveals the extent of harm to Israeli children during the war from October 7 to the end of 2025:
According to data from the National Insurance, the agency responsible for the care of hostile actions casualties: 63 children have been murdered, 35 children have been orphaned and 316 have lost their siblings since the outbreak of the war. 5,659 children have been recognized by the National Insurance as suffering from a physical or mental disability.
The war has brought an unprecedented amount of harm to children and youth since the outbreak of the war. According to the data, of the 25,274 children recognized as victims of hostile actions since the beginning of the war and at the time of the event, more than 97% were recognized in the period between October 7, 2023 and December 2023.
The data illustrate, precisely on Family Day, the extent of the harm to Israeli children since the beginning of the war:
- Fatalities: From October 2023 to the end of 2025, 63 children were murdered in hostile actions: 42 boys and 21 girls.
- Orphans: 350 children and teenagers were orphaned as a result of hostile actions from October 7 to December 2025. 18 of them were recognized in 2025.
- Bereaved: 316 children were recognized as bereaved siblings of hostile actions casualties, 26 of them in the past year. As stated, the information refers to those who were under 18 at the time of their sibling's death.
- Disability: 5,659 children were recognized as physically or mentally disabled following hostile actions between October 2023 to December 2025.
Distribution of victims by age and gender (since October 7): Of the 25,274 children recognized as victims in the current campaign:
- By gender: 51.28% are boys (12,959) and 48.72% are girls (12,315)
- By age:
- Ages 0-4: 7,356 children
- Ages 5-9: 8,123 children
- Ages 10-14: 6,532 children
- Ages 15-17: 3,263 teenagers
- By period: 349 children and teenagers were recognized in 2024, 224 children and teenagers were recognized in 2025 and 24,701 children and youth were recognized between October and December 2023.
