​Bereaved family members convey for funeral

First degree family members staying abroad are entitled to the funding of their transportation in the country for the funeral and Shiva (7-day mourning).
A message will be sent to oversees family members through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which will also assist with necessary formalities at their arrival in the country.

Who is entitled to a visit for gathering on the grave ?

  • Orphans
  • Bereaved parents
  • Siblings under 18
  • Siblings aged 18 and older - will only be entitled to a visit for gathering on the grave once every five years.

Flight: The National Insurance Institute finances round trip flights.

Stay and accommodation: family members coming to gather on the grave will be able to choose between the coverage of their hostel stay for 6 nights, or a lump sum of NIS 565 for coverage of expenses

Please note: the stay is granted in hostels listed in a determined list of establishments which have signed an agreement, and subject to quotas agreed in advance with hostels.

Trips: a family member coming in the country for a gathering on the grave is entitled to financing of his abroad trips between his home and the airport, as well as trips in Israel between the airport and his place of stay. In addition, he is also entitled to the financing of taxi fairs between his place of stay in Israel and the cemetery, for purposes of memorial service, and this up to a the maximum sum of NIS 1,500.

How to exercise your right?

To exercise your right, an application shall be submitted to the Consulate of Israel nearest your place of residence, about two months prior to the date of arrival in the country.
The National Insurance Institute will review the request and, if approved, will take part in flights and staying costs.
