The family members will receive a quarterly grant of NIS 90,000, which will be distributed in accordance with the personal family composition of the hostage/missing person.
Please note, a family member who is entitled to receive a grant for more than one hostage/missing – will receive a maximum grant in the amount of up to NIS 200,000 per quarter.
The grant for the second quarter (from 8.4.24 to 7.7.24) - was paid on 11.4.24.
The grant will be distributed as follows:
The hostage/missing has parents and a spouse
The grant will be paid to the parents and the spouse in an equal distribution: NIS 45,000 for the parents and NIS 45,000 for the spouse.
The parent grant will be paid as follows:
- Married, separated or divorced parents – each will receive NIS 22,500.
- One parent – will receive all NIS 45,000.
The hostage/missing has no spouse (or they themselves were taken hostage or missing)
Half of the grant (NIS 45,000) will be paid to the parents.
Half of the grant (NIS 45,000) will be paid in the following order:
- Distributed equally to the children of the hostage/missing, who are aged 21 and over.
- If he does not have children aged 21 and over – the grant will be paid in equal parts to his parents.
- If there are none – the grant will be paid to another relative, according to a social decision of the National Insurance and in accordance with the existing family circumstances.
The hostage/missing has no parents (or they themselves are hostages or missing)
Half of the grant (NIS 45,000) will be paid to the spouse.
Half of the grant (NIS 45,000) will be paid in the following order:
- Distributed equally to the children of the hostage/missing, who are aged 21 and over.
- If he does not have children aged 21 and over – the grant will be paid in equal parts to the brother or sisters of the hostage/missing aged 21 and over, including stepbrothers.
- If there are none – the grant will be paid to another relative, according to a social decision of the National Insurance and in accordance with the existing family circumstances.
The hostage/missing has no parents and no spouse (or they themselves are hostages or missing)
Half of the grant (NIS 45,000) will be paid in the following order:
- Distributed equally to the children of the hostage/missing, who are aged 21 and over.
- If there are no children aged 21 and older – the grant will be paid to another relative, according to a social decision of the National Insurance and in accordance with the existing family circumstances.
And half of the grant (NIS 45,000) will be paid in the following order:
- Distributed equally to the children of the hostage/missing, who are aged 21 and over.
- If he does not have children aged 21 and over – the grant will be paid in equal parts to the brother or sisters of the hostage/missing aged 21 and over, including stepbrothers.
- If there are none – the grant will be paid to another relative, according to a social decision of the National Insurance and in accordance with the existing family circumstances.
Quarterly grant for the siblings/children of the hostage/missing
- Children aged 21 and older and siblings aged 22 and older – will receive a quarterly grant of NIS 21,000 each.
Please note that a stepbrother will also receive the grant if he meets these conditions: his biological parent and step parent were married or common-law spouses, he lived with the parents before the age of 22 and was not in the custody of his second biological parent.
- A child whose parents are hostages/missing or one parent has perished and the other is hostage/missing – will not be eligible for a grant because he receives a monthly benefit. For information about the benefit click here.
Grant payment
- The grant will be paid automatically once every three months, as long as the hostage has not been released / the missing person has not been located.
- The grant for the first quarter (from7.10.23 to 7.1.24) – was paid until 23.11.23, to the bank account of the eligible family member.
- The grant for the second quarter (from 8.1.24 to 7.4.24) - was paid on 11.1.24, to the bank account of the eligible family member.
- The grant for the third quarter (from 8.4.24 to 7.7.24) - will be paid up to 11.4.24, to the bank account of the eligible family member.
Important information!
- The family members will be entitled to a grant even in the case the hostage has been declared dead and has not been released yet.
- The family members who have already received a grant will not be required to return it if during the payment period the hostage has been released /the missing person has been located.
- Are also entitled to a grant family members of hostages and missing persons unrelated to the events of October 7, 2023.
- Those recognized as hostage – will be treated by the National Insurance as a hostile action casualties upon their release.
