Compensation for Blood Transfusion Victims

Under the Compensation for Blood Transfusion Victims (AIDS), those who are carriers of the AIDS virus as a result of blood transfusion or blood-related products that they received from public health services, from December 31, 1981 to January 1, 1987, are entitled to compensation. The law also applies to spouses and children if they were infected by the AIDS virus following contact with the victim. Entitlement to payment is determined by a committee of experts at the Ministry of Health. Payment is made by the National Insurance Institute.
