Rights due to families of hostages, prisoners and missing people

Upon approval of the agreement, intended to recognize the families of hostages as victims of terrorism, the National Insurance will provide an economic, medical and psychologic aid package to the families of hostages, prisoners or missing people.

The rights to be granted to family members will be similar to those received by bereaved families - since it is the most comprehensive and largest package which gives a response to the nuclear family as well as to the parents.

The Ministry of Defense will provide in parallel similar rights to the families of prisoners and missing people among security forces.

The rights package to be granted to families will likely include, among other rights :

  • A first advance payment to be made in upcoming days amounting to NIS 10,000.
  • Eligibility for a monthly allowance of between NIS 7,000 and 11,000 (depending of family composition).
  • Grants for "special needs" such as: mobility needs (car rental, travel expenses refund, taxi cabs and so forth), funding accommodation (apartment rent, hotels, depending on the situation, and more).
  • Help with medical care - including treatments not included in the medication basket (funding of drugs, medical counseling, medical assistive devices).
  • Psychologic assistance involving funding of psychologic therapies, alternative medicine, support groups and more.
  • Funding of special needs, such as coverage of baby-sitters, help in the household, help with expenses incurred because of the situation imposed upon the families.

We pray for the fast return of the hostages and are ready, upon their return, to take care of them immediately as hostile actions casualties.
