The National Insurance Institute acts to maximize the take-up of rights for Israel's citizens, so that all those entitled to benefits by law will receive them. At the same time, it acts to prevent the fraudulent collection of benefits by persons who, despite not being entitled to those benefits, try to defraud the National Insurance Institute.
In order to prevent the illegal transfer of funds, the National Insurance Institute established an Investigations Department, as well as a Coordination Unit to deal with the problem of fraud on a criminal level together with the Israel Police.
