Benefits to the parents of the hostage/missing


The parents of the hostage/missing are paid a monthly benefit, according to family composition, regardless of the level of their income.

Rate of benefit to parents

  • To a parents couple is paid a benefit at a rate of 80.6% of the wage of a public servant at scale 19 on the administrative scale - NIS 8,767.42 .
  • To a single parent is paid a benefit at a rate of 80% of the benefit paid to a parents couple - NIS 7,013.93 .
  • Parents with more than one hostage/missing child will receive a benefit at a rate of 200% (according to their marital status).

The amounts of the benefit differ based on changes in the wages of public servants, or upon discovering, after a verification conducted once every 6 months, that the amount of benefits has been eroded in comparison with the average wage of workers in the public-community service.

Benefit increment for siblings of the hostage/missing

The benefit increment is paid to each sibling until age 22 who is supported by the parent, as follows:

  • For one sibling - 20% of the benefit paid to a parents couple - NIS 1,753.48 .
  • For each additional sibling - 11% of the benefit paid to a parents couple - NIS 964.42 .

Benefit to a widower parent

The parent who is a widower and reached retirement age (age 67 for both men and women) - will receive an increment to fund special needs amounting to NIS 1,452 per month.

Benefit parents without livelihood

The parents of a hostage/missing whose income from any source - excluding old-age pension, survivors pension up to the level of old-age pension, child allowance, periodic payments received as compensation for health damages caused by Nazi persecutions, general disability pension from the National Insurance, disability pension under Disabled People Law (beside special benefits) and the allowance paid under the Families of Soldiers Law - do not exceed NIS 500 per month for a couple or NIS 400 per month for a single parent - will be entitled to a monthly benefit increment.

  • Amount of the increment to parents couple: NIS 1,120.99
  • Amount of the benefit to a single parent: NIS 1,401.87

Benefit to a parent married to a spouse who is not the parent of the hostage/missing

The benefit paid is at the same rate as the benefit paid to a parents couple, but fringe advantages to the benefit are only granted to the parent of the hostage/missing, and no advantages are paid for the other spouse.

Benefit to parents who separated

The National Insurance is allowed to pay to each one of the parents who separated the benefit due to a single parent (80% of the benefit paid to a parents couple).
