The National Insurance Institute pays a study grant to single-parent families, as well as to parents of 4 or more children who receive one of the following benefits from the NII: income support, maintenance (alimony), disability, old age, survivors.
The grant is paid to these families at the beginning of every school year, for children aged 6 to 14.
Heating grant
The NII pays a heating grant to persons who received an old-age pension plus income supplement in one of the months of October through December, and who live in an area defined by law as a "cold area".
