Transferring to an HMO and immediately cancelling

An insured person can switch to an HMO or cancel a transfer to an HMO immediately in the following cases:

  • Moving house: If the new residence is a distance of more than 60 km from the previous one and there is no branch of the previous HMO close by, the insured person may request an immediate transfer to the closer HMO.
  • Medical reasons: Someone who had transferred to an HMO and the last date for cancelling the transfer passed, but for medical reasons he/she must cancel the transfer.
The request must be sent to the ombudsman for the National Health Insurance Law at the Ministry of Health via fax 02-56555981, along with medical documents or a photo of identity documents (depending on the reason for the request), indicating full personal details, current address and phone number.

The Ombudsman's opinion will be send to the insuree with a copy to the NII's Registration Department for a decision.
