Benefits to reservists sent on unpaid leave due to the coronavirus

​Due to "coronavirus" crisis, hundreds of thousands workers were sent on unpaid leave, some of them were called to reserve service duty.

As a relief to reservists on unpaid leave and employers - persons performing reserve service will be able to receive reserve service benefits from the National Insurance Institute directly, by submitting a personal claim.

The personal claim and documents can be sent by the following means:

Required claim attachments include a military authorizations, 6 pay slips preceding the start of unpaid leave and a certificate of departure on unpaid leave.

Calculation of reserve service benefits for reservists sent on unpaid leave

  • Reserve service benefits are determined in accordance with work income.
  • Those entitled to unemployment benefits during reserve service duty are not allowed to receive unemployment and reserve service benefits at the same time. Therefore, they will only receive reserve service benefits during the service. However, the amount of that benefit will not be deducted from unemployment benefits that would apply to them, if they weren't on reserve service duty.
  • If you have already received payment of unemployment benefit, you will receive an increment for reserve service benefit, since the latter is determined based on 100% of your income, whereas unemployment benefit are calculated upon a lower percentage.
