If you gave birth to a child abroad, you have a duty, as any other Israeli citizen, to register the newborn on the Population Registry within 30 days of his birth. At the same time, you have to fill out bank account details of the mother or a joint account. Bank account details can be updated on website site.
The claim form may be transferred to the National Insurance Institute through the employer.

Please note, even if you did update the bank account details on Internet, you must file a claim for child allowance.

Savings plan for each child

The National Insurance Institute has launched a personal savings plan for each child who is entitled to child allowance. Under this plan, a deposit of NIS 57 (as of Jan 01, 2024) is made monthly for each child in a provident fund or a bank, beside the child allowance that is paid on his or her behalf.

The parents can add to the savings for each child an extra NIS 57 (as of Jan 01, 2024) from the child allowance, thus doubling monthly savings to NIS 114 (as of Jan 01, 2024).

In the absence of choice, savings money is deposited in the  provident fund or the bank that was selected in the past.
