Conditions of entitlement to cash benefit

Any person entitled to a long-term care benefit may submit a request for a cash benefit if he or she meets all the following conditions:
  1. They are entitled to a long-term care benefit (at any rate).
  2. They employ a full-time caregiver at least 12 hours a day, six days a week.
  3. The caregiver is not a family member.
  4. The caregiver is paid a wage under a written contract.
  5. If the full-time caregiver is a foreign worker, the employer must have a permit from the Ministry of Interior (Immigration Authority) to employ a foreign worker and the worker must be residing in Israel legally.

The National Insurance Institute may change its decision and cease the payment of the cash benefit if any of the conditions of entitlement are not met or if deficiencies in care or in behavior are discovered.

In order to receive more information on employing a foreign worker, please contact an office of the Immigration Authority of the Ministry of Interior. A full list of these offices appears on the Interior Ministry's website.
