Financial benefits for work-injured persons

In accordance with the conditions specified by law and existing regulations, you may choose to either receive an advance payment or to convert all or part of your disability pension into a partial or full lump-sum grant (capitalisation of monthly pension).

Advance payment of the disability pension

If your permanent disability degree is 20% or more, you can, under certain conditions, receive an advance payment of the work disability pension that is paid to you. The advance payment is intended to help you carry out your rehabilitation plan, participate in your vocational training course, undertake your economic rehabilitation, or solve the housing and/or mobility problems stemming from your disability. Eligibility for an advance payment and the level of payment are determined in accordance with the conditions specified by law and the existing regulations.

You can submit an application for advance payment to the Rehabilitation Department of the NII at a branch near your residence, using a Rehabilitation Advance Payment Claim form.

Capitalisation of disability pension

If your degree of permanent disability is 20% or more and your regular monthly income is sufficient for your maintenance, or if the capitalisation funds could help you obtain a source of gainful employment, the NII is authorised, in accordance with your request, to convert all or part of your disability pension into a lump-sum grant.

You may request that:
Partial capitalisation of up to 25% of future amounts of the grant be paid to you until you reach eligibility for an old-age pension.
And/or
Full or partial capitalisation of future amounts of the pension be paid to you for a period of up to 5 years. At the end of the requested period, the pension will be renewed in full.

Capitalisation eligibility check (Hebrew)

In order to capitalise all or part of your disability pension, you must submit a detailed plan for the use of the grant money to a rehabilitation officer from the branch and you must attach authorisations concerning your income and documents attesting to the plan's details (salary slips, copies of contracts and agreements, construction plans, price quotes, medical certificates, etc).

If necessary, the rehabilitation officer will examine your request for capitalisation with the aid of experts (economists, physicians, etc.) and will present the findings of the examination to a rehabilitation committee, which will recommend whether to approve or reject your request.

Using a form for Application for an Advance/Loan/Conditioned Grant, you can submit a request for capitalisation of your disability pension to the Rehabilitation Department at the NII branch nearest your place of residence.
