Adjustment grant to people aged 67+ until June 2020


Please note that the information provided on this page is related to the adjustment grant paid between the months of March 2020 and June 2021.

Who is entitled to the grant?

Workers aged 67 and older who were dismissed or placed on unpaid leave (first or repeat) due to the Corona crisis, from 1.3.2020 until 30.6.2021 – may be eligible for an adjustment grant if they meet the conditions of entitlement detailed below.

In order to obtain the grant, you only need to submit a claim using this link.

Please note that a former grant recipient who returned to work then went on unpaid leave or was dismissed again – must inform us about the work stoppage on the website, to let us check the possible extension of his eligibility for the grant.

There is no need to report to Employment Service, nor to provide a work stoppage certificate from the employer or retirement pension certificates – we are carrying out everything automatically for you.

If you returned to work, you must inform us on the website.

Conditions of entitlement to the grant

  1. You are an Israeli resident.
  2. You have worked as salaried employee for at least 3 months before you were placed on unpaid leave or dismissed for the first time.
  3. Your income from retirement pension does not exceed the gross amount of NIS 5,000 per month.
  4. If you stopped working until 31.7.2020 – the period of unpaid leave shall last 30 days at least.
    If you stopped working from 1.8.2020 onwards – the period of unpaid leave shall last 14 days at least.

Please note that the employee placed on unpaid leave by one employer and continuing to work for another employer, is not entitled to an adjustment grant. Eligibility for the grant is only granted to jobless people.

Submitting a grant application

A person dismissed or placed on unpaid leave for the first time, as well as anyone who received the grant, returned to work then was placed on unpaid leave or dismissed again – need to apply for the grant by one of the following ways:

Please note that one must select the subject "old-age pension".

Grant amount

The amount of the grant is determined by your income from retirement pension (old-age pension and other benefits are not taken into account in grant calculation).

Grant amount for the month of March 2020

  • Grant of NIS 2,000 – for people with income from pension below NIS 2,000 or without any such income.
  • Grant of NIS 1,500 – for people with income from pension between NIS 2,000 and NIS 4,000.
  • Grant of NIS 1,000 – for people with income from pension between NIS 4,000 and NIS 5,000.

Full grant amount for the months of April 2020 to May 2021:

  • Grant of NIS 4,000 – for people with income from pension below NIS 2,000 or without any such income.
  • Grant of NIS 3,000 – for people with income from pension between NIS 2,000 and NIS 3,000.
  • Grant of NIS 2,000 – for people with income from pension between NIS 3,000 and NIS 4,000.
  • Grant of NIS 1,000 – for people with income from pension between NIS 4,000 and NIS 5,000.

Full grant amount for the month of June 2021 (90% grant):

Since the unemployment rate of April 2021 dropped below 10%, the amount of the grant is cut by 10% as of 26.5.21, as follows:

  • Grant of NIS 3,600 – for people with income from pension below NIS 2,000 or without any such income.
  • Grant of NIS 2,700 – for people with income from pension between NIS 2,000 and NIS 3,000.
  • Grant of NIS 1,800 – for people with income from pension between NIS 3,000 and NIS 4,000.
  • Grant of NIS 900 – for people with income from pension between NIS 4,000 and NIS 5,000.

Please note,

For the month of April: only a full grant is paid for those who did not work during that month.

For the months of May 2020 to June 2021: a full grant will be paid to those who did not return to work in that period, or a partial grant to those who did. The partial grant is paid for the days you did not work in each month.

Appeal to Labor Court

If you are not satisfied with the ruling of the National Insurance Institute on your grant claim - you are entitled to refer to Labor Court and submit an appeal against the decision.

The appeal to a Regional Labor Court must be submitted within 12 months since the day you were notified of the Institute's decision.

If you decided to appeal, you can request free legal aid from the Legal Aid Bureau of the Ministry of Justice.

Recipients of old-age pension with income supplement, please note!

The adjustment grant may affect your eligibility for the increment of income supplement in the months of March, April and May 2020. However, you will continue to receive ancillary advantages from other institutions.

From June 2020 until June 2021 – the grant will not be taken into account in the requirements of your eligibility for increment of income supplement. 

Checking eligibility for old-age pension

  • In addition to the adjustment grant, you can check your eligibility for old-age pension and, if you have low income, you can even submit a claim for income supplement to old-age pension.
  • If you receive a partial old-age pension due to work income, and you are currently dismissed or placed on unpaid leave – you need to notify us about work termination on the website, to let us recalculate the amount of the pension due to you.
