The shoe grant has three levels, depending on the level of disability, type of injury and whether or not the disabled person has a medical car. The grant is conditional upon an approval from the physicians of the national insurance institute. Disabled persons suffering the following types of injuries are entitled to the grant: leg injuries, amaurosis, paraplegia, quadriplegia, hemiplegia, multiple sclerosis; muscle, joint and spine diseases, as well as those with a special disability level.

Entitlement is for one pair of shoes a year; those entitled to special size shoes receive orthopaedic shoes on special order.
